What this app collects, why it collects it, and what you can ask us to delete.
Ping: IPv6 Diagnostics is a free network diagnostics app. This policy describes the app and its supporting services, operated for the publisher shown on its App Store listing. Use the support form for privacy questions or requests.
Measurements on your device
The app uses your device's resolver to look up A and AAAA records and makes independent HTTPS requests to the endpoints you choose. Those endpoint operators and the network services carrying the requests receive the connection information needed to respond, including your public network address. Their own privacy practices apply to those requests.
Saved endpoints, diagnostic reports, notes and saved AI explanations stay in the app's local storage. Reports can contain endpoint URLs, resolved addresses, measurements, dates and notes. They are not automatically uploaded to our AI service. If you export a report, the app passes the selected file or text to the destination you choose in the system share sheet.
The app also keeps a few settings and markers on your device: language, appearance, haptics and sound choices, whether you finished the introduction, and whether the rating invitation was handled.
Optional AI explanations
Before an AI explanation is requested, the app shows what will be sent and sends it only when you press the send button: the selected check's protocol results, response times, HTTP status codes, DNS result statuses and record counts, your chosen language, and the question you enter. Endpoint names, URLs and resolved addresses are excluded from the AI request. Anything you type into the question is included; avoid personal, confidential or sensitive information.
Requests go through our service and its Gowalk AI gateway to the AI model provider for processing. These service providers receive the information necessary to generate the response. Our app database does not retain ordinary AI questions or generated answers. An answer you choose to save is stored on your device. AI explanations can be wrong and do not change your network settings. You can use the diagnostics, local guidance and saved reports without requesting AI.
Introduction page
The first-run introduction is a page we host on getping.site, the same domain that serves this policy. The app shows it in an in-app web view until you finish it. When the app requests the page, the web address carries the app identifier, your language and the platform. If both launch checks below pass, it also carries one success marker, 6816234239=97824, in the query string. When a check fails or cannot be confirmed, that marker is absent. Individual readings are not sent. The request does not include your installation identifier, your name or an account.
The launch checks are:
- App Store country: whether your App Store storefront country is Russia.
- Cellular service: whether the device is registered on a cellular network. The app does not read a
carrier name, phone number, SIM or subscriber identity.
The app reads these conditions at most once in a running app process when it needs the introduction page, within a bounded startup window. Errors, unavailable readings and timeouts do not pass. It keeps the results in memory only; individual readings are not saved on your device or in our app database, added to analytics, or used for advertising or tracking. Only the combined success marker is sent to the introduction page on our own domain. The app does not attach these observations to requests for other pages, the support form, AI, the app service or links that leave the app. If the page cannot load within about four foreground seconds, the app shows a retry screen: "Try again" starts a fresh attempt using the same result, and "Continue to Ping" opens the app for that launch only. The introduction is offered again at each launch until you finish it; after that the app stops requesting it and no longer runs these checks.
The readings are observations reported by the app. They do not identify you and are not proof of identity, audience, purchase or entitlement. In the app they decide only whether the rating invitation can appear; no app feature depends on them. Hosting and network providers process the request, including its query string and network addresses, to deliver the page. Normal introduction presentations share a persistent website data store on your device. The website can remember its own cookies and origin-bound storage across retries and app restarts, until the website expires them or you explicitly sign out or reset that website state. Private presentations use isolated temporary storage. Initial requests bypass cached responses without clearing website storage.
Ordinary web links stay in the in-app web view. Links intended for another app or the browser are handed to iOS with their full destination, including query parameters and fragments. The destination app or website receives what is needed to open that link under its own privacy practices. A failed open lets you try again or stay on the introduction; an unavailable universal link can instead open the same web address in the browser. Opening another app does not upload your diagnostic reports. Returning leaves the introduction at its current step without repeating the external open.
Rating invitation
On the first launch of a new installation, if every launch check above passed, the app shows its own card asking whether you would like to rate Ping. "Rate Ping" hands off to Apple's system rating prompt; whether iOS then shows its own sheet, and how a rating is handled, is decided by Apple under its own privacy practices. "No thanks" closes the card.
The card appears at most once per installation. The app saves a small marker on your device when the first-launch opportunity is used, so the card does not return whatever you choose. It is not shown when you update from an earlier version of the app, and never over the launch screen or the retry screen. It does not change what you can do in the app.
Service identity and reliability
To protect the AI service from unauthorized use, the first time you use an AI explanation or the AI answer reports controls, the app creates a random installation identifier and a signing key in the device Keychain. The private key stays on the device. Our service stores the installation identifier and public key, and uses signed requests and temporary sessions to authenticate requests. The installation identity may survive an app reinstall through Keychain.
We record request identifiers, times, outcomes, usage counters and security information to enforce limits, prevent replay and abuse, and operate the service. Hosting and network providers also process request metadata, including network addresses, to deliver and protect the service. The app has no advertising, cross-app tracking, analytics SDK or user account registration.
Reporting an AI answer
If you report an AI answer, the app sends that answer and the reason you enter to our service, associated with the installation identifier. This is optional and helps investigate unsuitable answers. In Settings, open AI answer reports to export or delete reports associated with the current installation. These controls do not delete local diagnostic history or service security records.
Support messages
The support form asks for your name, reply address, subject and message. It stores the submission and sends it to our support mailbox so we can respond and resolve the request. Do not include passwords or other secrets. If a privacy request concerns a particular installation or report, describe it in the form; we may need further information to identify it safely.
Retention and deletion
Local reports and endpoints remain until you delete them, clear local data in Settings, or remove the app's data. Exported copies are controlled by the destination you selected.
On our app service, reported AI answers become eligible for automatic deletion after 30 days, usage admission records after 32 days, and replay-prevention and registration event records after one day. Cleanup runs periodically, so deletion may occur later than the threshold if a service interruption delays it. You can delete reported AI answers sooner using Settings.
Installation identifiers and public keys are retained for service authentication. Clearing local reports does not remove that server identity. Support correspondence, provider request logs (including those for the introduction page) and other infrastructure records have separate operational retention; the app's feedback deletion control does not erase those records or data already processed by an AI provider. To request access, correction or deletion of other data, use the support form.
Your choices
You choose which endpoints to test, whether to use AI, what to type or report, where to share exports, and whether to accept the rating invitation. You can remove local data and manage submitted AI answer reports in Settings. This app does not ask for contacts, photos, precise location or advertising-tracking permission. Its service providers process data to deliver and protect the requested features; the app does not sell data or use it to target advertising.
Future changes to data handling will be reflected on this page. For help or a privacy request, use the support page.
